Abstract
A method is presented for analysis of seismic response and liquefaction of the horizontally layered saturated soils that are modeled as fluid saturated porous solids. Coupled dynamic equations of motion are used and nonlinear material properties are assigned to the solid granular portion. The paper describes the theory and the material model used. The proposed method is used in case studies, including a Niigata like soil profile and the results of the analyses are considered.
