Mooring Hardware Load Testing an Industry Update

ABSTRACT
Mooring hardware load testing has had significant improvements since this author presented at the Ports ’16 conference the paper titled “Case Study: Bollard Load Testing at US Naval Facilities.” This paper reviews the current guidelines for inspection and testing of mooring hardware based on standards recently revised. The paper then looks at the types of equipment being used for the various types of mooring hardware testing levels and the benefits of each type of testing. The paper then explains some of the author’s own experience with development of mooring hardware testing equipment that can meet the needs of industry, in a cost effective and efficient manner.
