The Influence Mechanism of the Tolerance Threshold of Commuting Time for Car Users Based on the Structural Equation Model

ABSTRACT
Exploring the tolerance threshold of commuting time (TTCT) for car users helps us to better understand their commuting travel behavior. Using the travel survey data in Kunming, the influence mechanism of the TTCT for car users is analyzed based on the structural equation model. The result indicates that the instrumental attitudes and car use frequency have a significant positive effect on the TTCT. The affective attitudes have a significant negative effect on the TTCT and the symbolic attitudes have a significant positive direct effect on TTCT. Socio-demographic attributes, such as gender, education level and driving experience, also have a significant effect on the TTCT for car users.
