Improved Risk Assessment for Fire Evacuation Supported by BIM
Publication: ICCREM 2021
ABSTRACT
Building fires may cause serious economic losses and casualties, so fire evacuation problems are becoming increasingly prominent. With the support of Building Information Modeling (BIM), this paper integrates fire and evacuation information and establishes an Improved Risk Index (IRI)-based fire evacuation model to better evaluate the safety of fire evacuation. Safety Index (SI), a comprehensive index considering fire factors and evacuation factors, is proposed to define fire safety of a location at a specific time. Based on SI, IRI of an evacuation route is presented for quantitative assessment of evacuation route selection. Finally, a shopping mall building is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
