Publication: CICTP 2020

ABSTRACT

Intercity high-speed railway is an important transportation mode for healthy urban agglomeration development. However, its operational organization model is currently unsuitable for long-term development. Innovating a new operation mode that combines advantages of both high-speed rail and subway is imperative. This paper introduces the development status of urban agglomerations in China and the importance of intercity high-speed railways to the development of urban agglomerations. Division basis and characteristics of urban agglomeration intercity high-speed railway are expounded and causes and characteristics of passengers served by urban intercity high-speed railway are analyzed in detail. Urban agglomeration intercity high-speed railway is compared with traditional regional intercity rail transit. Based on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration intercity high-speed railway after construction of Xiongan new area, passenger door-to-door travel process is analyzed, and specific recommendations are given for each segment of urban agglomeration intercity railway operation organization. This paper provides reference for determining operation modes of intercity high-speed railway suitable for urban agglomeration.
