ABSTRACT
With the rapid aging of the population in China, it is becoming increasingly important to study the travel behavior of elderly people. This paper focuses on the effect of the bus route’s land-use feature on the travel behavior of the elderly. The general spatial autoregressive models of the three bus lines (lines 16, 87, 651 in Beijing) were established and the regression analysis was conducted based on the smart card swiping data and the POI (points of interest) on Baidu Map. Results showed that when a POI of the Green Space and Square Land type is added to the service area of the three bus lines, the trips of the elderly increase. These figures illustrated that parklands are the main places where the elderly go for daily activities. This demonstrates the close relationship between the travel behavior of the elderly and land-use features along the bus lines.
