Research on the Utilization Efficiency of Exit Lanes at Intersection without Left Widening
Publication: CICTP 2020
ABSTRACT
Video data at 30 signalized intersections and vehicle trajectory during 2,160 signal cycles were acquired by using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The usage characteristics of exit lanes at intersections were analyzed. It was found that the key to improving the utilization efficiency of the lane without left-widening exit is to improve the utilization efficiency of the lane at the innermost exit. After that, the relevant factors that affect the sharing rate of the innermost lane of the exit lane were analyzed. According to the influence degree, the influencing factors were classified into level I (high), level II (medium) and level III (low), and the threshold was also identified. The results can provide theoretical guidance for engineering practice.
