ABSTRACT
Compared with dry pavements, drivers’ perception and control of speed on slippery pavements are quite different due to the reduction of road friction coefficient, which is also a major cause of traffic accidents on slippery curves. The effective prediction of vehicle speed on slippery pavements can avoid the traffic accidents to some extent. This paper will use the driving data collected through driving simulation experiment to analyze the main factors affecting the speed of the car. And through the recursive method, a speed model that can predict the vehicle speed on slippery curves based on cubic-spline curve can be built. The speed model can be used as a gist to road design and recognition of dangerous driving behaviour on slippery curves.
