ABSTRACT
Driving fatigue caused by a tedious driving environment was a key factor resulting in traffic accidents, especially on grassland highways. Two types of new anti-fatigue devices (colored road pavement and roadside barriers) were designed to prevent driving fatigue from the aspect of driver visual stimulation. The effectiveness of these two devices on preventing driving fatigue was tested by conducting a driving simulator experiment. The data of 25 drivers’ subjective self-assessment and objective reaction time were obtained. Through comparative analysis, the effectiveness of each anti-fatigue device was quantitatively analyzed. The results showed that the anti-fatigue effect of colored road pavement performed better compared to the blank group and the experimental group with the colored roadside barrier. The study results could provide some basis and implications for preventing driving fatigue in grassland highways.
