ABSTRACT
Traffic alignment and infrastructure indicators significantly impact traffic safety. For mountain highways, traffic evaluation becomes a complex synthetic problem including randomness and fuzziness. This paper proposes the alignment and infrastructure indicators traffic safety cloud model evaluation method and studies a safety evaluation indicator system in post mountainous highway alignment design. By calculating the integrated cloud model digital characteristic, mountainous highway traffic safety degrees are obtained. Comparing actual traffic accident rates with results from the cloud model, the indicator weights of the integrated cloud model are optimized. The optimized combination weights of mountainous highway alignment and infrastructure indicators can be applied to highway operation. A safety evaluation on Xi-han mountainous highway was conducted. The weight relationship among every indicator can be achieved, contributing to the traffic safety indicator value determining in highway design, and alignment and infrastructure maintenance priorities setting in highway operation.
