ABSTRACT
Traffic safety and road capacity are impacted by unfavorable weather conditions. Traffic environment information(TEI)acquisition and exchange is a significant foundation to solve incidents caused by adverse weather. This paper proposes a TEI acquisition and exchange architecture based on service-oriented architecture (SOA) aim to realize TEI data sharing and the intelligent event management of special highway sections, and provide good TEI foundation for cooperative vehicle infrastructure system (CVIS). This paper first introduces the contents (include atmosphere data, pavement data, etc.), methods and standards of TEI acquisition used in China and internationally. Then the problems of TEI acquisition and exchange are explained. The TEI acquisition requirements for special sections of freeway are proposed through the operating principle of CVIS and its demand of TEI combined with five freeway sections. Finally, the TEI acquisition and exchange architecture for CVIS is established from three aspects according to the demands.
