Study on Safe Distance between Tunnel Exit and Interchange Exit in Expressway

Publication: CICTP 2020

ABSTRACT

Aiming at the increasing situation of the small-distance section between tunnel exits and interchange exits on expressways, the composition conditions of the minimum distance between tunnel exit and interchange exit are analyzed. Driving behavior, ergonomics, and traffic flow theory are used to analyze the distance of each component. In part, a distance demand model between tunnel exit and interchange exit is founded, and the minimum recommended distance of one-way two-lane and three-lane expressways are calculated by the distance demand model.
