ABSTRACT
The stability of marl slope is prominent when it is swelled by water. In order to enhance the stability of slope excavation process, interval excavation is adopted. Through ABAQUS finite element method, the spacing excavation modes and the influencing factors of spacing excavation of marl slope are numerically simulated. The three excavation processes of transverse sequential excavation, longitudinal sequential excavation, and spacing excavation are simulated respectively. The distribution and characteristics of stress and strain are analyzed. It is concluded that spacing excavation mode has the least disturbance to soil. It is concluded that the excavation interval should be designed according to the minimum strength under the maximum rainfall when the excavation interval is designed; the excavation interval should be reduced from 32 to 20 m when the foot of the slope increases from 27° to 36°; and the excavation interval should be reduced from 40 to 20 m when the height of the slope increases from 15 to 30 m.
