ABSTRACT
As the number of vehicles continues to increase, the oversaturated state of traffic will expand from a single intersection to the surrounding area, forming a group of oversaturated intersections. This leads to regional congestion. In this paper, the multi-objective function is transformed into a single objective function by the method of fuzzy compromise programming, the particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to solve the single objective function. Afterward, a better timing plan is obtained, which is compared with the unoptimized timing plan. Finally, the VISSIM software is used to demonstrate that the optimization algorithm is effective. The results show that the delay and the length of queue are reduced. These findings can help in reducing the occurrence of oversaturation.
