ABSTRACT
In the expanding development on BIM in whole civil engineering, terminology such as CIM (civil information modeling) comes along with various research. Such as knowledge-based system, is a technology used to store complex structured information in the solving complex problems. Technology-based research would be more likely to emphasize on the existing tools used on the solving problems. These two types of research have different focus on existing and potential. This research meant to have a preliminary study on the research existed on knowledge-based and technology-based BIM research on infrastructure. After that, follow with discussion about the different terminology such as CIM, BrIM etc. in the existing study of infrastructure in the civil engineering area. This research would have a up-to-date study on the knowledge-based and technology-based BIM research and make a review on the BIM development on infrastructure.
