Challenges and Lessons Learned of Commissioning Large Diameter Watermains

Publication: Pipelines 2019: Condition Assessment, Construction, and Rehabilitation

ABSTRACT

Under construction since 2011, the Hanlan Feedermain, a 2400 mm, 14 km feedermain located in Peel Region in Ontario, was placed into service February 2019. This paper describes the design and execution of the commissioning process using the first successful implementation of spray disinfection on a large scale feedermain in Ontario, since this method was first allowed for usage by the AWWA for large diameter mains in 2014, and the challenges and methodologies utilized to complete it.
