Clean Water Nashville: System Renewal through Rehab and Replacement

Publication: Pipelines 2019: Condition Assessment, Construction, and Rehabilitation

ABSTRACT

In 2011, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County through the Metro Water Services (MWS) Department began an ambitious program to fulfill Clean Water Act requirements by planning, designing, and constructing wastewater system improvements. This program, known as the Clean Water Nashville Program, continues MWS’s commitment of renewing wastewater system infrastructure and reducing sanitary and combined sewer overflows to the environment. As of August 2018, Nashville completed the construction of 28 projects, totaling over $125 million in construction costs. Case histories of representative projects, including sewer rehabilitation projects, pipe conveyance improvements, and equalization/storage facilities, are discussed herein.
