72-Inch Wastewater Point Repair in Dallas, Texas
Publication: Pipelines 2019: Condition Assessment, Construction, and Rehabilitation
ABSTRACT
The scope of this presentation will include the condition assessment of approximately 12,000 linear feet of existing 72-inch RCP interceptor built in 1963 and the evaluation of rehabilitation alternatives. The presentation will also include the design of the recommended alternative, bid results, and lessons learned from construction. The existing 72-inch RCP main was initially constructed with a PVC liner to protect the concrete from corrosion, but over time, portions of the liner detached from the concrete and the main experienced corrosion. Two point repair methods were designed to repair the corrosion and restore a protective liner to the detached locations. The two methods included a fiberglass liner and an epoxy liner with details and specifications for each. Each of the point repair methods will require flow diversion and man entry for installation by hand. Construction began in November 2018 and is anticipated to be completed in May 2019.
