Research on the Road Resistant Function Model of Urban Expressway

Publication: CICTP 2019

Abstract

Urban expressways play an important role in alleviating congestion and improving accessibility of urban traffic. Based on the relationship between parameters in the basic theory of traffic flow, the relation of speed and density drew support from the microwave data of an urban expressway. In addition, five functional models of speed and density are presented in this paper, including the exponential, linear, logarithm, polynomial, and power functions. However, the linear function distribution, which has the highest degree of fitness, is applied in the road resistance function model. Moreover, taking the travel time as the road impedance, a road resistant function model based on traffic flow theory is proposed. Finally, the average value of the time error, which is calculated by the acquisition time of the model to the microwave detector, is less than 10%, illustrating that the model has some practical value.
