Quantitative Study on Service Level of Signal Intersection Based on Acceleration Disturbance
Publication: CICTP 2019
Abstract
Signal intersections are the bottleneck of urban traffic, whose service level has been studied by many scholars. Previous studies on the service level of intersections have adopted the empirical method and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, which lacks powerful data proof. Acceleration disturbance value can show the drivers’ degree of freedom and disturbance between vehicles. The acceleration of vehicles passing through intersection is obtained by experimental method. The graphed relationship between the delays and acceleration disturbance can be quantified by simulation approach. According to the graphed characteristics of vehicles, the service level of intersections can be divided into four levels, and the corresponding value range of average travel speed is provided. The results can provide theoretical guidance for engineering practice.
