Cost, Risk, Performance: Icon Water’s Sewer Network Investment Plan

ABSTRACT

In an Australian first, we have applied a novel enterprise decision analytics (EDA) approach to model future sewer asset interventions, costs, and performance over a 20-year period. The project is a leading practice example of an emerging area in asset management: using big data and advanced analytics to efficiently inform investment decisions. This has delivered: efficiencies to maintain current risk and performance levels with lower cost; plans to improve performance and reduce risk by maintaining expenditure; and smart dashboard outputs so that stakeholders can promptly understand performance, risk, and cost trade-offs under a number of service level and investment scenarios.
