Leveraging Cloud and Parametric Workflows to Accelerate Performance Based Seismic Design

Abstract
Non linear time history seismic analysis is notoriously time consuming and can be very tedious to set up and execute. A systematic and automated approach is critical in ensuring that these highly complex models are generated accurately and stay in sync with the documentation model. This paper will illustrate a highly automated and scalable approach in managing the workflow from model generation, analysis, result storage and post processing. It will describe the compression in time scale required for such analysis and its beneficial impact on structural design. This paper will conclude by speculating on the impact of such workflow compression on enabling robust seismic design while supporting architectural expression and/or heightened seismic performance targets.
