Research on the Development Trend of China’s Construction Industry Modernization: The Case of Jiangsu, China

ABSTRACT

From “housing industrialization,” “housing industry modernization,” and “building industrialization,” and then to “construction industry modernization (CIM),” traditional construction industry in China has accumulated valuable experience in the process of its transition to strategic emerging industries, which leading CIM be the basic requirements to achieve sustainable economic and social development under China’s new normal, be an important part of “the belt and road” (B&R), be crucial support of “construction industry 4.0” times. This article take Jiangsu, China, as an example, through field investigation and interview, summarized its current situation and existing problems of developing CIM in the “12th Five-Year Plan” from perspectives of government, enterprise, and project, then put forward countermeasures from different aspects, to promote the sustained and healthy development of CIM during the “13th Five-Year.”
