Abstract
To achieve uniform distribution of loads over three bogies, we use two sets of load balancing mechanisms at the underframe of car body. The practical tests show that the load balancing mechanism has two problems: low efficiency, the difference between vertical forces at both ends being equalised reaches about 25%; response latency, the force at the passive end is always slightly delayed, which affects the uniform load effect when the vehicle operates at high speeds. This paper gives the principle and stress analysis of the railway freight vehicle load balancing mechanism, and provides the methods to improve the efficiency of the mechanism.
