A Study on the Influence of Air Vents Arrangement in Natural Ventilated Tunnels

Publication: Innovative Materials and Design for Sustainable Transportation Infrastructure

Abstract

This paper takes the natural ventilated Donghu Tunnel as an example. The tunnel with vents on the roof is numerically simulated to investigate the characteristics in natural ventilation. Cases with different length and spacing of air vents are simulated. Based on the simulation results, history curves of ventilated air quantity in each vent are presented. What’s more, the maximum of exhaust and inlet air rate among all vents is presented. It’s shown that the efficiency of ventilation system increases with more air vents in each group and longer vents. The efficiency doesn’t change apparently while the spacing of vents is changing.
