Research of Different Perpetual Pavement Structures Based on Performance Comparison and LCCA in Jiangsu Province, China
Publication: Airfield and Highway Pavements 2015
Abstract
This paper studied the performance and economic efficiency of test perpetual pavement in Jiangsu Province, China. The method of this study is combing the FEM calculation and performance comparison to determine which structure is fitter for this site. The tool for economic evaluation is Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA). Perpetual pavement without Rich Binder Layer (RBL) has better cracking and rutting resistance ability than its counterpart with RBL, but perpetual pavement without RBL is less economical than the perpetual pavement with RBL. Higher asphalt content in RBL could promote cracking resistance ability, but would at the same time decrease rutting resistance ability. Traditional semi-rigid base asphalt pavement has best rutting resistance ability, but this structure is the least economical in the life cycle.
