Abstract
Comprehensive understanding of hydrological processes in the Betwa Basin is a prerequisite for successful water management and environmental restoration. Therefore, a complete hydrological model is required to study hydrological processes and responses to climatic changes in the Betwa River Basin. This chapter provides the rationale of the Ken-Betwa Link Project (KBLP), which employs the oil and water assessment tool (SWAT) model. The main aim of the KBLP is to provide additional water to the areas of the upper Betwa Sub-Basin from the Ken Basin. To understand the Betwa Basin’s changing hydrological scenarios better, the chapter presents a long-term water balance study of Rajghat and Matatila reservoirs for LTP-I (1976–2035) and LTP-II (2036–2095) scenarios. The chapter summarizes the results obtained from the study.
