Research on the Method of Social Stability Risks Assessment and Management in Major Construction Projects
Publication: Vulnerability, Uncertainty, and Risk: Quantification, Mitigation, and Management
Abstract
In the special background of social transformation and fast urbanization in China, as a new work, social stability risks assessment of major construction projects has been carried out in recent years. Currently, the research about social risks and social impact assessment has been more mature, but the monographic study of social stability risk assessment in major construction projects has been weak. First, combing the research methods of sociology and the characteristics of engineering objective impact, this article explored some investigation methods of social stability risks for collecting the data needed in risks analysis. Then, the project's social stability risk can be identified in general by summarizing and analyzing. Second, this article adopted the "single factor risk degree method" and "overall risk index method" to calculate the overall risk index of the major construction projects and to work out the major construction projects' social stability risk level by contrasting "project's integrated risk judging reference standard". Third, on the basis of the major projects' participants' and project phases' characteristics, this paper designed an organization model of risk assessment and management and defined responsibilities of all participating units, which can provide guidance to effectively prevent and manage the social stability risks in major construction projects.
