Abstract
In this study, a new damage assessment procedure is proposed to make assessment of structural damage for masonry-infilled, reinforced concrete (R/C) structures subject to earthquakes. The structural damage index is defined as a weighted combination of damage indices of each component in the structure. The weight factor for each component is determined by considering the effects of the component failure on the structural failure. Then, the state of the structure is classified according to the structural damage index. In the, end a 3-story building is analyzed to demonstrate the feasibility of the presented procedure in practice.
