Study on the Key Technology of Membrane Structure Design in Shanghai Norwegian Pavilion
Publication: Sustainable Development of Critical Infrastructure
Abstract
The Norwegian pavilion is a complex membrane structure in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. A study was made on the key technical problems of the structure design. As it is the first application of the TENARA membrane and a polyester belt is used instead of edge cables of membrane structures for the first time, the tensile test studies the tension performance of the TENARA membrane and polyester belt. The reasonable compensation value of TENARA membranes is put forward to provide reliable data for design on the membrane structure. The study on form-finding analysis of membrane structure and node design is made to ensure the safety of the structure. Further, the global stability of cable-membrane is analyzed by the scale model test. Based on the above study, the mechanical properties of the material are determined and the key technical problems are solved, so the safety and stability of the structure is ensured.
