Abstract
The damage of the flexible and the rigid joints is analyzed. Based on the analysis, a new expression for leak area which owns clear physical background is given to update the old leakage model. Meanwhile, an important parameter of the new model, leak coefficient, is derived from a leakage experiment of pipeline. The seismic functional reliability of a small water distribution network is analyzed using the old and the new model, respectively. The result shows that the old model overestimates the performance of the water distribution network subjected to earthquake, while the new model agrees well with engineering practice.
