Abstract
Chang Jiang is the largest inland water system in China. With a length of 6300 kilometers, it is the longest river in China and third longest in world. Due to its special geographical condition, its water level varies with respect to location, and time which, to some extent, affects the navigational environment. To guarantee the smooth passage for sailing vessels and make full use of the navigable sections, based on the analysis of Chang Jiang's hydrological characteristic, this paper introduces a short and mid-term water level prediction method of the navigable trunk and provides real-time hydrological information for the management of Chang Jiang waterway.
