Technical Specifications for Drilling, Constructing, and Testing of Water Wells

Publication: Hydraulics of Wells: Design, Construction, Testing, and Maintenance of Water Well Systems

Abstract

This appendix provides technical specifications for the construction, development, and testing of one production water well. The scope of the work encompassed by these specifications consists of furnishing all plant, labor, equipment, appliances, and materials and performing all operations in connection with drilling, sampling, constructing, developing, and testing the well. The chapter also discusses location, depth, well dimensions, hydrogeology, permits, certification, laws, ordinances, national pollutant discharge elimination system (NPDES) requirements, site security, noise control, dust control, site sanitation facilities, and construction inspection of the water well. The well is constructed using the reverse rotary drilling method. To determine water quality and estimated groundwater yield at the well site performing up to four isolated aquifer zone tests in the pilot borehole is necessary. The contractor furnishes all necessary equipment and materials and performs complete pumping tests on the well following development.
