Education of Coastal Engineers for the 50th ICCE

Abstract
Coastal engineers today need to understand the impact on society and environment, the costs and the sustainability of coastal structures in addition to learning the technical aspects of coastal engineering. To accomplish this, training programs must be improved by defining the attainment targets which have to be met by the students at the end of their education, and not only by defining the subjects to be dealt within the curriculum.
