Reducing Risks to Tailings Storage Facilities through In-Line Flocculant Addition
Publication: Geo-Frontiers 2011: Advances in Geotechnical Engineering
Abstract
This paper describes a number of advantages of in-line flocculant addition (ILFA),such as increased water recovery, improved stability and increased tailings storage facility (TSF) capacity. The paper also provides supporting data in the form of laboratory and field test results. Furthermore, it includes discussion of the costs (capital and operating) of ILFA compared to other thickened tailings alternatives.
