Abstract
The traffic congestion can aggravate the system function and the network efficiency, which leads to the decrease of traffic system performance. Therefore, the performance evaluation for traffic networks (e.g., railway and road) has extremely important practical significance in the transportation planning and management. Here, we analyze the performance in the scale-free network generated by Molloy-Reed algorithm. We compare two important network performance evaluation methods with the consideration of traffic congestion and structural efficiency respectively. A significant finding is that only congestion or efficiency is not accurate to evaluate the performance reasonably. In order to avoid shortcomings and find a remarkably compromise between the congestion and efficiency, we propose a combined model with the consideration of them. Additionally, the effect of weighted parameter on the performance of traffic system is investigated.
