Application of Jute Geo-Textile in the Moorum-Sand Mixed Layer as Granular Subbase of Flexible Pavement
Publication: Traffic and Transportation Studies 2010
Abstract
In present scenario, non-availability of the conventional materials for construction of subbase of flexible pavement in many places in India has become one of the greatest problems for constructors due to variety of reasons. This problem may be overcome by decreasing the thickness of the sub-base layer by improving their strength, which ultimately reduces the cost of construction and also elongates the life span of pavement. In view of this, an experimental program was undertaken to study the possible uses of jute-geotextile in the construction of Granular Sub base layer of flexible pavement, with moorum and sand to evaluate their usefulness as a better sub base material and the result of these tests are reported in this paper.
