Abstract
Long-distance passenger trains are very popular in other high-speed railway countries and on traditional railway lines in China. However, the organization of long-distance passenger trains can be complicated on passenger dedicated lines in China, for it is affected by many factors. In this paper, we focus on the analysis of the factors to develop the conditions for operating long-distance passenger trains on railway passenger dedicated lines. Since different factors have different degrees in affecting the operation of long-distance passenger trains, we discuss the combination effect of different factors. Based on the analysis, we propose the conditions for operating long-distance passenger trains on passenger dedicated lines, including train units travelling distance, and train departure and arrival time windows. Finally, we discuss the relationship between train stop schemes and train departure and arrival time windows of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway line.
