Abstract
Group-pile foundations are used extensively for supporting buildings, bridges, and other structures to transfer structural loads safely to the ground and to avoid excess settlement or lateral movement. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the behaviors of the group-pile foundations and superstructures during a major earthquake. In this paper, numerical simulation of real-scale group-pile foundation subjected to horizontal cyclic loading is conducted using a program named as DBLEAVES. In the analysis, nonlinear behaviors of ground and piles are described by subloading tij model (Nakai and Hinokio, 2004) and axial force dependent model (AFD model, Zhang and Kimura, 2002) which considered the axial-force dependency in the nonlinear moment-curvature relations. The purpose of this paper is to verify the applicability of the proposed numerical method by comparing the numerical results with the test results.
