Sensitivity Analysis of Influencing Factors on Lateral Deformation of Geosynthetic Reinforced Segmental Soil Retaining Walls
Publication: Earth and Space 2010: Engineering, Science, Construction, and Operations in Challenging Environments
Abstract
Lateral deformation is one of the most important indexes which can reflect the working performance of geosynthetic reinforced segmental soil retaining wall. There are many influencing factors of the lateral deformation of wall facing. And most of the factors possess characteristics of uncertainty, randomicity and ambiguity. Taking a six-meter-high geosynthetic reinforced segmental soil retaining wall as an example, orthogonal design and finite difference method were used to analyse the global sensitivity of wall performance to design parameters of the wall. The sensitivity sequence of lateral deformation to all influencing factors and the optimal design parameters were obtained. In the end, more detailed calculation and analysis were conducted to find out the optimal length and vertical spacing of geosynthetic reinforcements, which was a problem urgently needed to be settled in practical project.
