Analysis of Inducing Joints Behavior during Reservoir Filling in Xiaowan Arch Dam
Publication: Earth and Space 2010: Engineering, Science, Construction, and Operations in Challenging Environments
Abstract
In order to control the formation and expansion of cracks, artificial inducing joints are set up near upstream heel of Xiaowan arch dam to release the tensile stress. Based on the qualitative analysis, this paper analyzes the inducing joint behavior of Xiaowan arch dam during reservior filling by using statistical model, which extracts the componets of main influencing factors on the inducing joint deformation. With stress meter and osmometer monitoring data, the deformation behavior of inducing joints are evaluated. It suggests that below 1160m water level, temperature is the main factor and correspondingly the reservior filling process has no obvious effect, but some osmometer measured values are still worthy close attention.
