Abstract
The pseudo-excitation perturbation method (PEPM) is presented for analysis of random response of structures with uncertain parameters subject to stationary stochastic excitations. Firstly, this kind of so-called "composite stochastic problem" is accurately transformed into a single stochastic problem, with only structural parameters being stochastic, by the pseudo-excitation method (PEM) in order to derive the formulae of sensitivities for random responses with respect to uncertain structural parameters. Secondly, the perturbation expressions of structural random responses are derived by means of a Taylor series expansion. Thirdly, formulae for the statistics of random responses are deduced from the perturbation expressions. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a space truss structure. The results agree well with those obtained from Monte Carlo simulation method.
