Developing Stratagem of Urban Public Transport in Chengdu City

Abstract
In order to study the developing strategies of urban public transport in Chengdu City, this manuscript analyzed the residential trip character, the actuality of urban public transport in Chengdu, based on the traffic investigation. Combining urban transport demand forecast and analysis of urban passenger transport structure, multiple developing strategies and measures of public transport are proposed. It is pointed out that urban public transport system should be harmoniously developed by building urban subway and bus rapid transit as main trunks, general bus as base, lateral bus as sustentation, and taxi as supplement. The various public transport modes should be coordinated to form the nultimodal and multilevel public transport system.
