Analysis on Adaptability of BRT in Big Cities of China West
Publication: Logistics: The Emerging Frontiers of Transportation and Development in China
Abstract
The paper puts forward that BRT adaptability is the harmonizing and developing ability with the society, economy, environment and the urban transportation, sets up the evaluation index system for BRT adaptability in big cities of China West. The evaluation index consists of 32 indexes belong to 5 fields: technological environment, economical environment, social development environment, resource utilization environment and ecological environment. Using Delphi method and the factor analysis method, 32 original indexes have been analyzed and 5 common factors have been got. According to West big cities' economic situation, transportation development policy, transportation demand characteristics and actual traffic structure, carried through quantitative analysis on BRT adaptability in west big cities including Kunming, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Urumqi, Lanzhou, Guiyang, Yinchuan, Xining. And it derives a conclusion that BRT is well going with big cities of China West, provides a reference for making decision of transit construction of big cities in China West.
