Abstract
The expression of equivalent stiffness in considering the geometrical nonlinearity of variable stiffness device is derived. The cubic polynomial model of the equivalent spring is obtained for analyzing the dynamic characteristic of the nonlinear system. The numerical results show that the control effectiveness of SATMD with nonlinearity is better than that with linearity as the frequency ratio is little less than 1. The existing Hertz model is adopted for constructing the equations with impact between TMD and the main structure. The investigation of impact parameters shows that the dimensionless clearance and the impact stiffness are more sensitive to the control effect of TMD than other impact parameters, such as frequency ratio, damping ratio. The robustness of TMD can be improved significantly when the frequency of TMD is detuning, if the impact parameters are reasonably designed.
