Abstract
Erbian Dadu River Arch Bridge is located in the Erbian country, Sichuan province. In order to monitor the strain and temperature of the arch bridge and evaluate the health condition, 30 bare FBG strain sensors and 5 temperature sensors have been installed on the 15 arch suspenders, and 8 GFRP-OFBG strain sensors and 4 temperature sensors have been installed on the 4 tie cables. Techniques of FBG sensors installation have been explored. The change of arch bridge suspender strain and temperature, and the effect of the same loading traffic on different length suspender have been monitored under traffic loading with the FBG sensors. The monitoring results show that the FBG sensors can monitor correctly the change of traffic loading and temperature, possible fatigue damage. The tensile process of tie cables was successfully monitored utilizing GFRP-OFBG intelligent sensors, which supplied a great reference meaning to construction.
