Abstract
The paper presents an experimental investigation of the effects of temperature on the response of strain-gauge based tensiometer for direct measurement of high suction. These tensiometers are often manufactured with a stiff measurement diaphragm and are therefore sensitive to temperature. The effect of temperature on strain gauge voltage output is difficult to predict and manufacturers suggest to directly measuring thermal effects gauge by gauge. The paper shows that measurement errors associated with temperature change may be significant and suggest possible approaches to correct temperature-induced errors.
