Abstract
In order to study the Structure-damage evolution and thermal-mechanical characteristics of unsaturated expansive soil, a multi-function triaxial apparatus for soil was developed in recent years. The new equipment has the functions of both CT-triaxial apparatus and temperature-controlled triaxial apparatus. The structure and characteristics of the new equipment were introduced. A number of CT-triaxial test were conducted, and the properties of the structure-damage evolution of undisturbed expansive soil during loading were obtained. A series of triaxial tests with temperature-control for unsaturated remolded expansive soils were carried out, and the test results show that temperature has great effect on the mechanical behavior of the soil, such as strain, strength and soil-water characteristics curve.
