Advanced New Rapid-Response Emergency Tower

Publication: Electrical Transmission Line and Substation Structures: Structural Reliability in a Changing World

Abstract

A new rapid deployment tower system has been developed in Canada, with extremely rapid response capability and a high degree of versatility in adapting to a range of circuit configuration requirements. This new generation tower system greatly improves the ability of power utility owners and operators to respond to emergency situations. The tower's light weight makes it easy to handle and its versatility also makes its adaptable to non-emergency temporary and permanent applications. This paper describes the functional capabilities and design innovations of the new tower and describes a case example.
