Bridge Management Strategies and Structural Reliability

Publication: Life-Cycle Performance of Deteriorating Structures: Assessment, Design and Management

Abstract

Currently available management systems often suggest maintenance strategies that are suboptimal. This is due to inadequate consideration of user costs, mostly in the worst condition state. In this paper an approach is suggested, which introduces reliability aspects into bridge management systems without abandoning the current widely accepted condition-based approach.
